Merely Players is Back!

After producing Dames at Sea and Forever Plaid at the Henry Strater theatre, Merely Players produced last season's acclaimed Western US premiere of Neglect at the Powerhouse/Discovery Museum. Mona Wood-Patterson and Charles Ford returned to the Durango Theatre scene with a sold-out run of The Shape of Things this summer .

Best known for their work at Durango High School, where they built a program that has garnered local, statewide, and national recognition, Mona and Charles look forward to proceeding with their Merely Players vision:

  • To become a vital part of Durango's vibrant arts scene

  • To broaden the range of types of theatre experiences available to local theatregoers

  • To continue with our educational program, in the form of interns and outreach

  • To nurture the community artist

  • To consistently provide quality theatre in this region

Since Mona and Charles announced their resignation as theatre directors at DHS this spring, many community theatregoers have expressed the desire to help make it possible for them to continue making theatre in this area.   Theatre is a dynamic, expensive venture. With both humility and excitement, we ask for your support, either as audience members or donors (or both!) Donors who contribute at least $50 will be listed in our program, at various levels. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation is tax deductible. We promise you that every dime will go toward making quality theatre in Durango both now and in the future.

“Shouldn’t I be less in love with you?”

The second longest-running Off-Broadway musical in history, written by Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts, charmingly brings audiences face to face with "everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives, and in-laws, but were afraid to admit."
