SENSE and SENSIBILITY

Sense

“I wish, as well as everybody else, to be perfectly happy; but, like everybody else, it must be in my own way.”

We open our season with the regional premiere of Kate Hamill’s highly acclaimed adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel. It’s an irresistible love story, set amidst the background of 18th century gossiping, and infused with Merely Players’ bold theatrical inventiveness and creativity.

To add to the fun, this delightful caper is a classic Merely Players Found Space production, staged at the Old Fort Historic Library in Hesperus. On both Fridays and Saturdays, a fascinating pre-show walk and talk about the history of the Old Fort, led by local history buff and Hesperus native Roy Horvath, is included in your ticket price. The talk begins at 6:20. Subscribers will receive more information as the date nears, but make your date selection now.

We are sold out for all shows of Sense and Sensibility on paper. There may be cancellations and reservation changes, however. Call Greta at 970-749-8585 and get on a waiting list or find out the current availability for tickets.

Historical Walk and Tour at Select Performances

At the evening performances on September 28, 29, and October 4, 5, and 6, local historian Roy Horvath will be giving a walking tour entitled “History of Old Fort Lewis”. The tour is included in your ticket price and will begin at 6:15 each night and have participants walking about ¾ mile on gravel driveways. It will end back at the library about 10-15 minutes before the start time for the show, to allow participants time for restrooms and seating without too much flurry. Roy will have a handout available to participants, but if you have some time, you might also want to check out these links to get some background before the tour. We hope that you can join Roy before the show for this free and informative tour of one of La Plata County's historical gems.
