“There is no fact. There is no fiction. The line is blurred.”

The complicated relationship between a prominent writer and her student ignites respect, intellect, confidence, and jealousy in Donald Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize finalist play. We are thrilled to bring back Karina Wolfe, a homegrown actor now acting in Los Angeles, to pair with local favorite Maureen May in this searing exploration of fiction and friendship. Fittingly, we present this play at the Durango Public Library as our Found Space production of the season.

“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all
the year.”

Merely Players links forces with dynamic local dance
company 20 Moons to present Charles Dickens’ beloved
classic as you’ve never seen it. Join the ghosts of Christmas
Past, Present and Future as they lead the miserly Ebenezer
Scrooge on a journey of transformation and redemption.
A fusion of dance, puppetry, original music, and theatre,
our creation of A Christmas Carol is the perfect way for the
whole family to get into the holiday spirit.

“Fortunately, there is still such a thing as the art of co-existence. Isn’t there?“

Come along for an intense, emotional thrill ride, as a playground altercation between two boys brings their parents together for a meeting to resolve the matter. The resulting deterioration of diplomatic niceties into unbridled and hilarious savagery earned author Yasmina Reza the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and the Laurence Olivier award for Best Comedy. It’s a comedy of manners without the manners. Produced in collaboration with Durango Arts Center. Strong language.

“I found your mother’s garden. It’s a secret garden.“

The enchanting story of Mary Lennox is reimagined in
brilliant musical style by Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman.
Mary is sent to live on an estate in Yorkshire, where she meets
her embittered uncle, his invalid son, and some lively
characters on the moor. Most importantly, she is charmed
by the hopefulness of a magical garden. The music is superb,
beautifully haunting, and unforgettable. In 1991, Time called
the play "Elegant, entrancing...the best American musical of
the Broadway season," and it went on to win the Tony Award
for Best Book of a Musical that year. Sure to be another Merely
Players sell-out, The Secret Garden is family entertainment
at its best.
